I'm a new member

Well last night, after a month of no online play, I tried the online play of Red Alert 3. I got my ass kicked. But one of the maps, Technology Theft, pointed me in this direction. It interested me, because I've been thinking of some interesting 1vs1 maps, which could be good. In my oppinion good anyways, probably more skirmish suited than multiplayer! I tried to make them myself, but I have no idea how to work it tried to figure out, but the word guide is more of a 100 page book than a guide if you ask me. So expect to see me posting some ideas, once I can draw out some pictures of the maps and upload them

My general strategy, since I have not played against players very much, is to turtle. I rarely rush, I like to turtle and steamroll, while occasionally launching small "raiding parties" of around 2-4 tanks, and a long range bombardment such as the V4. But I've always wondered.. what was the V3 like?

The thing I liked most about online play was that it didn't take 2 hours. The longest match I've ever done was 50 minutes, but in reality it took around 3-5 hours, it was ridiculous. The troops all move in slow motion. But online it is forced to keep up with the opponent, so it doesn't. It just occasionally freezes for 1-3 seconds, which in my opinion the freezing is better. Is there some sort of pacemaker patch to make sure it doesn't go in slow motion? Watching the empire engineer sprint in slow motion is funny, but it gets tedious after a point. I play with all graphics settings on lowest.

I don't think so Norz. Tell me, what kind of computer have, how much ram and all this suff. Are you sure ALL your serrings are very low? How good is your internet connection? Does this kind of lag happen in every match?

no it doesn't happen in every match, usually just when I build a lot of units. It is because I play on a laptop which meets the bare minimum requirements to play the game lol

Ahah, thats might be reason. Well, then you are more like 1v1 or maybe 2v2 player, because probablility of huge lag in 6 player map is huge .

You seriosly should get better computer ^^

yes, lag on 6 player maps is very bad lol, especially this one i downloaded called cash rush, horrendous lag there, the games take 45 minutes ish but 5+ hours in real life usually. I have to quit I get so bored of it XD

Ahah, ok. Well, i usually quit very fast if there is so huge lag . Pointles time wasting !

its fun though setting up a load of easy empire enemies against you, for example a 3 or 4 vs 1 because the biggest attack force they ever send is 10 infantry, and they often have alot of mechu tengus when i go into their base, so just set up some base defenses at the chokepoints and build an invasion force behind that. top secret protocols and super weapons are annoying to this though =/

yea, happens. This is called strategy

Yeah, as of yet I haven't found a better way of countering top secret protocols and superweapons other than rushing, but against CPUs I like to toy with them XD

Well, everyone have their own kind of strategy xD... I have seen very stupid strategyes !

I love trying out stupid strategies lol sometimes they can be fun, for example just making 100 sea wings (mods usually) convert them to sky wings and then send them all over to the enemy base

apart from the incredible amount of lag, that was pretty fun XD

lol tech theft is prob only chance, its very rare to spam skywings..

I haven't tried tech theft yet, it sort of freezes just after the spy does all that. But it's what brought me to this site XD

yeah thats what i think which is a shame, because i read what all happens about having to defend it for 30 minutes and now i wish i could play it XD

Well, if you get friend and play it as defender with ur friend (put hardest combo(A) ), then it might not be so laggy

oooh, have you guys heard of the ultima tech mod? I dunno about multi player, but if you used this in single player skirmish you could do huge spams of sea wings and anything else for that matter!

oh. Basically it supercharges you so that everything costs 1/10th of it's original price, takes 1/10th the time to make the unit/structure, but doesn't change the units very much. Sky wings and yari scout subs seem to be about twice their original speed though. If a unit/structure takes 10 seconds or less normally to build, then it takes no time at all. The sea wings take 1 second but if you get the money upgrade with the empire, they take no time at all (I made 300 of them and it took me about 30 seconds) I can give you a download link if you want.

oh but a downside is that there is no turtling because you get all the top secret protocols in just a couple minutes and super weapon cooldowns are about 5-7 seconds XD so the trick is to rush to super weapon then just annihiliate that way. Or if your like me toy with them by mass producing shitty units lol
